Every technology has limits. AI prompting is no different. Understanding where it breaks is not pessimism. It is responsible use.

What this means in practice

In delivery environments, over-reliance on AI outputs without validation creates risk. A confident-sounding summary is not the same as an accurate one.

The more consequential the decision, the more important it is to verify the output independently. AI can assist the thinking. It cannot carry the accountability.

What to do instead

AI needs oversight. The quality of your oversight determines the quality of the outcome.

A pattern worth avoiding

The most dangerous pattern is what I call "delegated thinking", where teams stop reasoning through problems themselves and simply accept AI outputs because it is faster.

Speed without judgement is not efficiency. It is risk dressed up as productivity.
